I have always gravitated towards jobs in fields where I could help people, that often took the form of customer service positions. I have worked as a secretary, a residential staff assistant at a crisis pregnancy home, a waiter at a retirement home, and for one glorious summer I operated the Hulk Rollercoaster at Islands of Adventure. I got my bachelor’s degree in English so that I could write all the books I wanted read but no one had ever written. I worked at All Children’s Hospital for 9 years. As you can see my journey to social worker has not been a very straight line.
The Lord set a fire in my heart to help children, I knew that is what I wanted to do even as a child. When the Lord led me out of my job at All Children’s Hospital he presented an opportunity for me to really help children. That was the beginning of my journey licensing Christian foster homes. I have been doing this work for almost 2 years now and it has been the hardest yet most rewarding job I’ve had. I get to walk alongside prospective foster parents as they begin their own journey in the foster care system and then continue to support them as they love the foster children in their home with the love that comes from being loved by the author of Love.
1 John 4:19
We love because He first loved us.
