My name is Gabriel Mira, and I am currently working as a Licensing Specialist in Hillsborough County. I grew up in Valrico, Florida, in a Christian home, and moved to Tampa after graduating from the University of South Florida. Jesus saved me by His grace while I was attending the University near the end of finishing up my Criminology degree. After graduating, I decided that working in the criminal justice field was not really what the Lord was calling me to do, and since then He has put a huge passion in me for serving my community in the field of social work, and more specifically, foster care.
During my 21/2 – year span of working as an Extended Foster Care Case Manager prior to working here, I met my beautiful bride, and have daily seen marriage be modeled in the gospel and be shaped by it. I personally enjoy spending time with my wife, reading lots of Christian books, learning history, and traveling. Working at West Florida Foster Care Services has been a huge blessing to my wife and I, and we love that the agency has a big view of God, marriage, the importance of the local church in the world, and how those views impact being on mission to see foster care transformed by the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
”Whom have I in heaven but You? And besides You, I desire nothing on earth. My heart and my flesh may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
– Psalm 73:25-26
